Components Are Not Precise Enough For Me - 868 Words

S: Specific In order for a goal/target to be specific, it must answer the six W’s (who, what, where, when, which, why). Although the when and why are fairly evident, the other 4 components are not precise enough for me. Who is involved and where this is going to happen is not specific. Terms like globally, double and enhance are very vague in my opinion. Therefore, I do not find these targets specific. M: Measurable In order for the targets to be measurable, they need to have criteria for measuring progress. All the targets have end dates, and target 7.3 does use the word ‘double’, although vague, it does give a value goal. The rest are not measurable. 7.2 indicates to ‘increase substantially’. How do the people creating these targets know when 7.2 is completed? At what point do they accomplish the target? I do not believe that the targets are measurable. A: Attainable I believe the targets are attainable. I do not think that this list of five targets was made over night. I think that it was well thought out and decided that these five are critical to accomplishing the goal. R: Realistic As my knowledge on these criteria is limited, I will not answer this question. T: Timely All targets contain a time frame in which they would like to be accomplished. The targets are timely.
